Prescriptions
Repeat Prescriptions
If you take medication on a long-term basis, your printed prescription will normally show a medication list on the white (tear-off) side. This may then be used as a record and to order a further supply. You can do this by ticking the items you require on your printed list.
To order a Repeat prescription, do one of the following:
- Order it online via the link at the top of this page
- By telephone between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on 01562 822647
- By email prescriptions.stanmore@nhs.net
- Post in the Repeat Prescription Box in reception at the surgery
- Post it to the surgery enclosing a self addressed envelope
Please ensure you include the following information:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Date of Birth
- Telephone No
- Drugs Requested (details as given on repeat prescription sheet)
Your prescription will normally be ready for you or your designated pharmacy to pick up 2 working days later.

Reducing Medicines Waste
The practice has signed up to help reduce medicines waste. To support this we would ask you to only order those items you need and not everything on your list.
We would also like to encourage you to use our online repeat prescribing service. If you need help in using this service, please ask our team on the above telephone number or email them at the email address shown above.
Some repeat prescriptions will occasionally be declined and you will be requested to see the doctor for re-assessment.
Prescription Fees
Help with NHS costs
In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:
- those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
- those who are age exempt
- those with certain medical conditions
- More information is available at NHS Choices
NHS Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
- Prescription (per item): £9.65
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
- 3-month PPC: £31.25
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
- Telephone advice and order line 0845 850 0030
- General Public - Buy or Renew a PPC On-line
